Fall Is Here!

Original set of leaves I found.

I love doing nature projects. because I feel like you aren't limited with detail. There is so much detail in the leaves, I don't think it could all be drawn. I arranged my leaves going upward so they would resemble how they grow. I purposely picked different kinds and sizes because I felt that create a more interesting picture.

Containing Something Special...

I enjoyed creating this container, especially because of what it was containing.  The idea of a container created JUST for your own special object was genius.  Using the brown for the outside of the box tied in the neutral color of the bracelet.  The purple fabric in the inside made the yellow-colored wood of the beads stand out even more, since they are complimentary to eachother.

Foust Building

The Foust Building

I enjoyed drawing this building, for its unique architecture. It is unlike any building on the UNCG campus, and almost everyday I would walk by wondering why it looked so different. I have now learned that it is the oldest building on campus, which explains why it is different than any other building. The styles, when it was built, were different, and they are still changing every year. I admire all the archways in the windows, and I think that would be a great asset to add to newer buildings, to "bring back" the style that once was popular.

Sketchbook Assignment #1 ... JEWELRY!

Sketch (above)
Blind Contour (above)

I really enjoyed doing sketchbook assignment mainly because it gives you two different perspectives of the same object. The sketch looks more realistic like the object "should" and the blind contour is more abstract and interesting in the sense that you have to look twice to really make out what it is. The blind contour drawing definitely has a "Picasso" effect which i personally really like. I chose to post earrings that my aunt gave me. They are trolley cars that you see running through San Fransisco. The earrings are gold and I think they are very interesting and unique. :-)
